Tornado Foosball Tables Overview: The Tornado brand is synonymous with tournament style foosball and creating high-quality foosball tables over the past 40 years. Tornado tables are the official foosball tables of the sport. The Tornado tables were born in 1970 by the Valley® company with an engineered table that was designed for commercial vending use in bars and foosball halls across the United States. The Tornado product is known for creating an American style of foosball that is based on power and control. The hard and level table surface, high-quality foosball men that allows for maximum control, and other high-quality parts set this brand apart from the rest. The tables allow for a fast-paced game while being able to maintain a never before seen level of control to set up shots that blow away new people to the sport. All of these factors are the reason that Tornado tables have become the official foosball table of tournaments around the United States. Tornado Competitors in the 1970's: The 1970's was a time when foosball soccer was at its peak and tables could be found everywhere across America. The Tornado tables stormed the market with their product during this time and quickly flushed out a majority of the lesser quality products that were cheaply made. However, during the 70's Tornado did have two major competitors, one of which is now out of business. The Dynamo foosball tables and the Tournament Soccer (TS) tables were the two rivals at the time and helped to excel the sport of foosball along with the Tornado brand. Tournament Soccer actually was well known for its heavy promotional events that called attention to the sport like it had never seen before. One of their most notable official promotions were a $250,000 tournament in 1977 and various vehicle give-a-ways like a Porsche 911 and a Chevy Corvette. Due to their lower quality parts and overextending themselves on promotions, Tournament Soccer went under and had to shut down operations. Fortunately, the Tornado brand quickly began running promotions and was successful at gaining the share of the foosball market. Tornado and Dynamo eventually officially merged in 1998 and put the only two quality products at the time under the same umbrella company. Today, there are many foosball table brands being manufactured, but none can hold up to the name of Tornado. Tornado Foosball Table Models:
