Foosball Tables > Level a Table

How to Level a Foosball Table

Having a level table is key before you can begin to learn the game. This is essential to ensure you can stop the ball from rolling around and set up your shots. We suggest getting a Tornado table if you want a good quality model that can be leveled easily. The worst thing about a cheap version (anything under $400) is that you can never be sure the surface can be 100% level. You can level and adjust the table legs for hours on end but if the surface is sloped there is nothing you can do to fix it. If your actual playing surface is not made level by the manufacturer, there is nothing you can do to level it and you to never be able to master the game.
Tools Required to Level the Foosball Table:
  • Torpedo level
  • A two foot carpenter's level (optional)
  • Spacers - wood blocks or shims, plastic blocks, or cardboard (optional, depending if your foosball table has adjustable spinning legs)
How To Level the Foosball Table
First, make sure that all of your adjustable foosball table legs are all the way screwed tight (clockwise) and your table is on a solid surface. You can skip this step if you do not have a table with adjustable legs. This will ensure you are starting from an even point on all of the legs. Take the two foot carpenter's level and place it on the side rails of your table. If the table is not level, the bubble within the vial will travel toward the end that is higher. Next, before you begin to adjust the table, take the torpedo level and double check the actual top playing surface horizontally and vertically. Once you know where the bubble within the vial is traveling towards, the goal is to raise this side(s) in order to center the bubble between the black lines. Remember to raise the side(s) where the bubble is traveling toward to level it back out.

To adjust and make it level, get another person to lift as you can either unscrew your legs (counter clockwise) or place your spacers under the appropriate legs that need to be raised. Repeat this process on the other legs until the bubble is centered no matter what direction you place the level. You should never have to adjust more than 3 legs. Leveling your table will be well worth the time and effort it takes and you shouldn't have to do it more than once a month under normal play. If you play for multiple hours every day or with players who like to play rough and jar the table, you may need to level the it every couple weeks to ensure a flat and level playing surface.
Adjustable Spinning Foosball Leg Levelers
Some people choose to add these adjustable spinning leg levelers to the legs on their table as an aftermarket modification. This can be risky if you don't know what you are doing and could result in harming one of your legs or drilling a hole too large. If you can get them installed correctly, it could pay off with a nice feature that you just simply spin to adjust on any uneven flooring surface vs. using the shim approach.
