Foosball Push Kick Shot
Overview of the Foosball Push Kick Shot
The push kick shot is the opposite of the pull kick where you push the foosball rod away from yourself while passing the ball from one man on the same rod to another and simultaneously shoot the foosball. The push kick shot is a less common shot in the game of foosball because most players think the pull shots are easier and quicker to execute. Just like the push shot, we would not recommend making this your primary shot. However, the push kick shot can be combined with other shots or taken on occasion to surprise your opponent and throw them off balance. Remember that foosball is a mental toughness game as much as it is a skill game. Foosball Push Kick Shot Level of Difficulty:

Learning to Set Up the Foosball Push Kick Shot:
The push kick begins by setting up the ball on the inside of the foosball man closest to you on the table. You can do a push kick on either offense or defense so it depends which rod you will be using to take the shot, but these instructions will walk you through an offensive 3 bar push kick shot.
Foosball Push Kick Shot Techniques and Methods
Most beginners tend to grip the foosball handle with their hand too hard. Keeping a loose grip on the handle will allow for maximum movement and speed and limit your resistance. You will know that you are holding the handle right if there is some space between your palm and the foosball handle.
You will also need to learn to shoot an open-handed shot. Try passing the ball back and forth between your close 3 bar man to your center man and kicking the ball in. Next, open your hand as you release the pass and roll your wrist upward when you kick the shot. This will increase your overall shot speed. You may need to practice this wrist rolling motion in order to become accurate with your push kick shots

Learning to Place the Foosball Push Kick Shot
Your foosball table has a total of 5.8 widths of the actual foosball ball. This means that you have 5 "holes" that you can place the push kick shot in (see the diagram). Also, the defensive player has 2 defensive foosball men that are in front of the goal, covering 2 of these holes. Your objective is to place the push kick shot in 1 of these 3 open holes Reading the Foosball Push Kick Defense
The push kick is a great shot to throw out there to surprise your opponent. Pay attention to your opponent's style of defense in order to learn their motions and common patterns they may have as you pass the ball back and forth between your 3 bar men. Most players get used to the same back and forth rocking motion and you can easily exploit this if you watch the timing of their defense when you are making a push kick shot. Other players may bite on what they think will be a long push kick shot and you can do a short one to hit the 5th hole in the diagram.
