Tornado Foosball Table Handles

Handles are really the only thing you can touch and control when playing the game. They have to be designed to be comfortable and allow you to control all the men on that rod. Tornado has evolved their offering through engineering modifications and upgrades over the years to accommodate the best control you can have. They were the first manufacturer back in the 1970s to create octagonal shaped handles which are the industry standard still today. Their traditional wood style is also still used in production today on the non-tournament products, but you can always upgrade to the yellow and black plastic versions that are used on their highest end tables.

First Generation Tornado Handle
The original handle design was actually very far ahead of its competitors like the Tournament Soccer table in the 1970s that was known for a fat handle that was difficult to grip. This wooden handle with an octagonal shape was extremely easy to use. It also tapered down toward the front where your index finger and thumb come together and have the most contact with the handle. The only knock on this version was it was too smooth so your hand could slip. This is why many people use handle wraps to add grip to the surface and produce a tacky feeling. |
Second Generation Tornado Handle
The second generation handle continues to offer an octagonal shape and is made out of wood. However, it has been upgraded to include more of a sharp corner on the octagonal cuts. It also has a rougher surface that hasn't been sanded down as smoothly to improve the ability to grip against it. These still use a pin in the center that will allow you to mount it to the end of the rod. |
Third & Forth Generation Tornado Handle
The latest creation in the handle is the plastic molded handle that can be found on their best table - Tournament 3000 model. It still offers the octagonal shape as the previous models, but has a tacky surface that allows for easy grip. They come in both black and yellow so they match the color of the men on the field. Though not visually different, it was even further improved in 2018 with the forth generation to prevent the peeling of the color during excessive use. |
